Carlos Barcode was first persuaded to paint whilst working as a decorator in Pittsmoor. His colourful abstracts quickly got him sacked. Fearing llamas for no good reason, Carlos decided to avoid going to Peru, and has remained in Sheffield for the past thirty years pursuing an artistic career that has redefined the landscape of contemporary British art.

Carlos is currently working on a project combining voodoo and sculpture, with Mandy Osmosis as his inspiration.

Carlos Barcode now lives in his native Sheffield with a stuffed rat called Trinity.

When not involved in creating new artworks Barcode is particularly involved in human rights. Recently he has become a patron of the MBLF (Monkey Boy Liberation Front).
